Executive summary

(you can download the full report below)

This report provides an overview of the activities of ETC of PWD since its registration as a UK charity in 2018. The charity’s mission is to prevent and relieve poverty among persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Northern Uganda by providing vocational training, education, small business support, and grants that enable sustainable livelihoods.

Key Achievements:
• Supported more than 300 persons with disabilities directly, with thousands reached indirectly through families and communities.
• Delivered vocational training, psychosocial support, and post-training mentoring to improve employability and self-employment.
• Developed innovative programmes such as V Plus, V Plus Plus, and the Viva @ GDPU music initiative, combining skills training with empowerment and advocacy.
• Introduced a revolving loan scheme to help graduates start and sustain enterprises.
• Strengthened GDPU premises with infrastructure improvements (sanitation, security, and training facilities).
• Established a peer mentoring network to provide outreach, advocacy, and safeguarding in local communities.

Looking Forward:
The next phase of ETC of PWD’s work focuses on consolidating peer mentorship, expanding community outreach, supporting sustainable youth enterprises, and developing the Viva Wer Waa Music Project. These initiatives will build stronger linkages with government structures, promote advocacy, and empower PWDs to live dignified, independent lives.
